英国で32社が残る独立系醸造所の一つ。1899年発売の”オールドエール”の逸品。大麦麦芽、クリスタル・モルト、チョコレート・モルトを使っている。2009年にはWorld’s Best Aleと同時にWorld’s Best Dark Ale、The World’s Best Strong Ale、the Worlds Best Barley Wineを受賞。Best ale in the world 2009 受賞。International brewing awards（2005金賞、2002銅賞）。Winter beer of Britain（最高賞1991、2000、2005）。CAMRA winter ales festival（2010金賞）
